HOME SWEET HOME

Just back home and the morning after i left for a small roadtrip in Bretagne...Saint Nazaire, Saint Brevin, Guerande, La Baule, Pornichet and to finish this tour, we ended up in Nantes...Honestly this is my top ten's city...And i came to the cathedral of Nantes to visit my favourite sculpture...it s been done by Paul Dubois and the name is "la charite universelle". A wonderful woman that gives milk to 2 children:one african and one caucasian...

in this cathedral, i used to come a lot when i was running my own tattoo shop (Out of step tattoo, the enemy of the sun) in Nantes in 2003-2004...when i needed some calm or inspiration, i used to come and sit to listen to the big organ too...There are plenty of treasures everywhere...Some of my favourites are:

a painting of 1956 of Andre Minaux....

and the unbelievable grave of Francois II....sculpted on the 4 corners with crazy details!!!!!

some places i really love too in Nantes...the library Les enfants terribles...there was a cool exhibition of Aude Leonard. They are specialized in only children books...the problem is im collecting them for ages..so of course i went away with an amazing one.
"Le Roi sans terre" from Marie-Sabine Roger and Sylvie Serprix....The text is so delicate that with my poor english i cant translate with as many emotions as they wrote theirselves...the story is about a king without kingdom. He travels for a long time, looking for a place that he could call Home...Reminds me my quest somewhere too...

and the Elephant from the island of Nantes that gives its image to the city for a few years now...

And if you re in town one of those days here are two addresses i love very much to visit:
Rue Fenelon there is an art gallery called simply "Galerie Arts Pluriels"...there was a very great exhibition of Henri Guibal...
We came to visit a friend that works on one of the best library: "librairie Coiffard"...Inside that shop he is running "Librairie l'index" He's specialized into graphics arts/posters/architecture/tattoo books/rare fanzines/comix... You can find EVERYTHING!!! even my last publication!!! But there are also some imports, very rare books, out of prints editions and printings....of course, i couldnt stand without going away with a treasure. I found "kindling" of James Jean...

ok! here are some pictures of that trip! next: probably a few tattoos freshly done and Paris...

  1. Wow, thank you for the virtual tour of the place. This statue with an extra face in the back is wicked! So cool! The elephant is cool too. And that bookstore sounds lovely as well - I can totally get lost in one, exploring books and taking in the atmosphere! That is, if I like the store of course, haha
